Tonight go to see the movie that is so badass, so unapologetically fun, that the characters actually fight a battle with swords forged from the hull of a spaceship.”

Surprise number one: It’s smarter than it looks. Surprise number two: That doesn’t entirely ruin it as an action film.”

“Vikings vs. aliens… Outlander is probably the best possible version of whatever movie you’ve already made in your head from reading those first three words.”

“Remember in Talladega Nights when Will Ferrell said that Highlander won the Oscar for “Best Movie Ever Made”? Outlander could steal that title. There can be only one.”

“Outlander” is a fluid genre exercise that satisfies cravings for action and Norse mythology in one fell swoop.”

Alan Jones/Frightfest

“Unashamedly crowd-pleasing is Howard McCain’s epic science-fiction/fantasy OUTLANDER, the final film seen in Cannes. Jim Caviezel is an intergalactic astronaut who crashes his spaceship in 700 A.D. Norway and unleashes a giant alien creature on the local Viking population. Big, glossy and hugely enjoyable, it commingles fun adventure cliches with wildly unhistoric abandon, all acted with solid conviction by Caviezel, John Hurt, Perlman and Sophia Myles. There’s gore aplenty, the thrills are nonstop and the neon-etched CGI monster is pretty damn good too.”

  1. Hey, Awesome!

I was looking at doing a post like this but am running out of time before I’m gone for the weekend again. The main one I Was going to feature was the creative loafing one along with some of the great ones from the past. I’m surprised you didn’t mention the Fangoria guy that saw it at Cannes last year.

  2. Here’s the MoviesForGuys.com review of OUTLANDER:

  3. I’m glad to see that people are connecting with the film. I’ve had a few emails myself from some who’ve seen it and really enjoyed it. There’s going to be a lot to update about when I get home on monday.

Also, do you know when we’ll find out the next set of theaters dirk? Or how long the movie will be playing in the current ones?

  4. waldgeyst Says:

I just hope that i will get a chance to see the movie anywhere here in germany 😦

  5. Telepool told me that if you missed it at the fantasy filmfest in germany last year you have to wait till it comes out some time this year on dvd or bluray… sorry.

Also, I hate these four hour lay-overs…

  6. Yay! I’m so glad you guys are getting recognition for this great flick. It’s quite simply a travesty that it isn’t opening in more markets.
