DEFAMER ON OUTLANDER! (… and a bit on the making of…)

As reported above, there is yet to be an official DVD release so there’s still room for the Weinstein Company to give Outlander a decent theatrical release.

A bit more on the tendency for TWC to dump product here, at Defamer.

We’ve also gotten over 230,000 youtube hits on the various trailers, which doesn’t take into account other sites, such as our pals at solsector, which puts total hits very close to half a million.

Below are models of the Viking village, Herot, as well as the inside of Shield Hall, complete with its supporting tree. Yes, those are shields in a semi-circle. That’s for the Shield Dance. Hopefully you’ll get a chance to see it. These were designed by Oscar-winner Dan Hennah.

  1. Here’s a few links I was thinking of updating about later.

    http://www.launchingfilms.tv/index.php

The first one is a fairly facinating inside look at what it takes to put a movie in theaters. There’s a whole bunch of videos that explain simply for the average person the ins and outs of the buisness. I recommend it to anyone wanting a bit of insight into the ordeal. It is UK centric but the principles are the same for the US and anywhere really.

Second, the next link is the projections for the UK release of Outlander (Which is going to be in theaters on February 20th). The expect it to gross around a million which isn’t horrible for a smaller independant feature. The other info on the page indicates that the target audience is the 15 to 24 age group and there is a pricing guide for people looking to buy ad space in the theater ahead of the movie.

  2. I should add that it’s a million pounds not dollars. The target audience is indicated in the film guide section. Interestingly they only expect transporter3 to make a million and a half british pounds but have it classified as a blockbuster?

  3. wierd my first comment didn’t show: Here’s a few links I was thinking of updating about later.
